1. First of all, how did you get your project name... "Loopus in Fabula"?

Well its Latin (the ancient language of the Romans which is still the base for Italian,Spanish, French and Portuguese) written like "lupus in fabula" it literally means "the wolf in the fairy tale" but it is also still presently used as an idiomatic expression which means "speak of the devil"...its also a play of words with the English loop so its like "fabulous loops".

2. Can you tell us about your musical background and how you got into producing electronic music?

By chance off course!! I was more into jazz and I used to play a little bit of saxophone like a hobby..then in 1995 I went to my first rave party and got in touch with trance music, we begin organizing parties, then start djing and so on....

3. What are the inspirations or influences to your music and mind?

The influence for my music is quite wide, I like the classic of rock and funk like Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Fela Kuti but at the same time I am listening lately to a lot of jazz , my first love, stuff like Miles Davis, John Zorn, Ornette Coleman, Bill Laswell... anyway my definition of classic is also wide, for example for me Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and Fat Boy Slim are also classics....hmm and I forget to tell about my love for the 80' pre-dance music and the great Giorgio Moroder...well put all this big messy soup together into a psytrance (lazy) schema and you have my production...

4.What does 'trance' mean to you ? (music, culture, attitude or even spirituality?)

That's a very difficult question nowadays...it has been so long time since the beginning of the scene....I see a lot of "packaged" spiritualism nowadays dumped into the trance scene and some times is really hilariously commercial... I think the original connection between trance music and spiritualism was due to the hippy scene and Goa but even if the scene has grown and evolved in many different ways since then (for example with the psy-progressive style...) has always wanted kept this (forced and hypocritical sometimes) image of spiritualism...for me more simply now it is dance music with the ambition of creating a collective state of euphoria or connection which is a bit more of what you can have with your usual fashion house club environment...so lets say that the stress for me is on the intensity of the feelings...that does not mean it has be necessary serious it can be ironical and joyful but still it's an intense (laughing) experience.

5. How would you describe your music? Would you want it to be defined as 'psychedelic trance' or other categories?

Psytrance is ok as a definition for me...I am trying to make some innovation in the genre itself stretching maybe the boundaries , looking towards the future...this is becoming a old style now and too many people are sticking to the formula. They can afford it, because there's a lot of young people who just get in touch with the scene right now for the first time or people from countries where is completely new which is the same thing....Anyway innovation is hard and sometimes I take my risk and make my mistakes I guess....well I am very critical with my work sometimes in fact...

6. What do you find the difference between psytrance & trance itself? What makes it different from one another?

Well if you are speaking technically about dance music "genres" trance is a style which was before psytrance and is quite more commercial and wider, we can actually say that psytrance is a subgenre of trance...but the genealogy of styles in music is not linear off course and its always very very subjective and relative to create this "academical classification". Ff you check wikipedia for "trance" you can find at least 17 subgenres...and psytrance itself has his own sub-subgenres like progressive, full-on, suomi and then full-on has his sub-sub sub (!!) genres like dark, melodic, Israeli, minimal and so on...but in the end who really cares! Music is much more blended and bastardized then that and actually what I am doing doesn't really fit any of this categories....

If you mean the word trance which means approximately "modified state of conscience", well I think in some special occasions some people reached in the dancefloor a similar state of being...but I will say its only analog and not exactly the same of what is and was the state reached in the classical anthropological definition of trance for example from the gnawa in Morocco or the Siberian tribal shamans or Brazilian condomble or stanbali in Tunisia etc etc...

7. Which one of your own music do you like the most and why?

Well to simplify lets say that I really endorsed the title track of my last album "Ladies Fat Bingo" it has been made with my friend Paul Kearney in Australia and we really had fun and been pleased by the result which has some sort of electro-trance touch...!

8. What gave you the inspiration of adding Duran Duran's samples in this track titled "Ladies Fat Bingo"?

Honestly I don't remember, there's much more randomness in the creative process that one could think...I mean the direction is of course where you wish to go more or less and in the end is a meeting of personality but the details sometimes are quite spontaneous....we were in the studio, playing I thought about this sample and it fit...anyway I said that I always endorsed the 80's (in a retro cheesy way!....)

9. Have you ever been to Hong Kong? Are you aware that people in Hong Kong are more into breaks, electro & house music. Where do you see your music taking the attendees during your Live+DJ Set here in Hong Kong?

No I never been to Hong Kong..and I am quite excited about that actually!! Breaks electro and house are the most popular genres almost everywhere (included Italy actually) and especially in the USA...so Hong Kong is no different in this way is just a "normal" place....my music is aimed to everyone for the people who are already in the scene, its just a nice variation and for the casual people its just an intense and different dance...blast...well let see what will happen anyway...

10. How was 2006 been for you so far? Where have you toured until now in this year (parties, festivals etc) and where would your last stop be to bring in 2007?

This year I was in Russia at the beginning, then Turkey for the Soulipse festival, then Switzerland, England, Germany, Israel, Belgium, Ukraine (Crimea) then had a long and hectic tour in the USA and Canada then back to Europe again in Switzerland , Germany, Russia and in a far east republic of Russia called Tatarstan...well and after Hong Kong my last stop will be a 1.5 month tour in Australia!! The best party place in the world in my opinion!!

11. What would you like to say to our readers out there that are looking forward to see you play in Hong Kong?

Have FUNK!
